I have never thought about this topic before. Now that you mention it I realise that I have been suppressing my feelings regarding this issue. I may harbour an innate fear of the elderly as I was raised by my great Uncle. The man used to beat me with vegetables he grew on his allotment. Anyway I digress.
Every morning I wait for the Wallingford bus on my way to work at the abattoir. How is it possible that the elderly are always at the front of the queue? I have never managed to get on the bus before them. It’s not as if they need to rush, they have reserved seats and at a reduced rate! They don’t always sit at the reserved seats as if they’re plating some mind game. By the time I get on the bus all the seats are gone apart from the reserved seats. Dare I sit in one? No. There’s bound to be an elderly person at the next stop who will ask me to give up the seat. And due to my fear this reduces me to a gibbering wreck.
